Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a chronic aseptic inflammatory condition of the bladder that predominantly impacts women. The underlying mechanisms responsible for its development remain largely elusive, thus necessitating the use of animal models in preclinical investigations. In this study, we successfully established a mouse model of IC/BPS and conducted a comprehensive analysis using RNA sequencing and various validation techniques. Our findings illuminate the crucial inflammatory pathways implicated in IC/BPS progression, while also highlighting sex-related differences that could importantly contribute to the development of targeted therapeutic strategies in the future.
