An exciting new research article has been published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS), in which we have shown promising potential for the use of cannabidiol (CBD) in the treatment of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS). In vitro experiments have shown that CBD can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress associated with IC/BPS by modulating key signalling pathways.
Given the great interest in identifying natural compounds to prevent the development or progression of inflammatory diseases, the results of the present study may offer new perspectives for the development of an optimal therapeutic approach for IC/BPS and other chronic inflammatory diseases.
